Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan (XU) broke ground for its new Senior High School at its Pueblo de Oro campus during a formal ceremony held last June 23, 2018.
XU President Fr. Roberto Yap, SJ, led the groundbreaking and laying of the time capsule together with members of the business sector, XU staff, alumni, and students.
The new senior high school building will use green technology that will reduce the building’s impact on the environment. The new building will also feature energy-saving technology like T5 LED lighting and an inverter-type air conditioning system. Among its additional features are a sewage treatment plant, rainwater collection system and natural ventilation. Two sky gardens will also insulate the building from the heat of the sun.
The new Senior High School campus is expected to be completed by May 2019, and its completion will unite XU’s grade school, junior high, and senior high in the same campus.
