As the nation slowly moves forward in our battle against Covid-19, Pueblo de Oro proactively participates in sharing resources to support government initiatives in ensuring ample food supply for host communities.
After the successful relief operations in Luzon, Pueblo de Oro went South to organize donation drives in Cagayan de Oro and Cebu.
The first batch of beneficiaries were Pueblo Cagayan de Oro’s maintenance workers. Management distributed eggs and 25kg of rice to each family last May 28, 2020. The food packs aimed to contribute to the daily sustenance of the workers and their families as the company gradually resumes operations.
On the following month, the group visited Cagayan de Oro City to distribute sacks of rice in nearby communities. In coordination with baranggay officials, a total of 1,750kg of rice were spread over to more than 2,500 families in Baranggay Carmen, Lumbia and Canitoan.
On June 16, the Pueblo de Oro Cebu team distributed grocery packs composed of canned goods and noodles to 154 families from Barangay Babag in Lapu-Lapu, Cebu. The donation drive was also extended to the town of Carcar where the team served grocery packs to 103 families from Barangay Can-Asujan.
The family beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the donation as most of them are still feeling the financial challenges and limited work opportunities due to the prevailing pandemic. Pueblo de Oro on the other hand, is grateful for the opportunity to serve our kababayans as the country continues to heal as one.
